This Tart Cherry Lime Homemade Gummy “Candy” is made with grass fed, pasture raised gelatin for a boost of immunity and gut healing powers! This healthy homemade gummy candy is ultra kid friendly and great for grown-ups too. Made with 100% tart cherry juice, raw honey and grass fed gelatin.
Following up from last week’s full review of Vital Proteins grass fed collagen products, I’m bringing you a fun (and super tasty!) recipe for Tart Cherry Lime Homemade Gummy Candy!
This recipe uses Vital Proteins grass fed, pasture raised beef gelatin, which means that in addition to it it simply being awesome because it tastes like candy, you’re also getting major health benefits from the collagen protein.

Vital Proteins collagen protein is a 100% pure, pasture-raised, grass-fed gelatin powder. It dissolves in hot liquids and thickens in cold liquids (ideal for gummies and other desserts!)
The amino acids contained in gelatin are therapeutic and are identical to the protein found in skin, nails, hair, bones, cartilage, and joints. It’s gluten Free, rBGH Free, non GMO. It’s great for gut health and an overall boost to your immune system.
And if that’s not enough, I decided to indulge in my ongoing obsession with tart cherry juice and add to the “bang” you get with this recipe. Tart cherry juice is AWESOME for runners, as many of you guys might already know! Tart cherry juice has been shown to have some pretty impressive anti-inflammatory powers and is great for easing post-run soreness and joint pain/inflammation. It’s also loaded with antioxidants and has even been shown to help with insomnia! Is this the perfect juice, or what?

A couple of notes on the recipe before we get started. Although I purchased special candy molds to create fun shapes, you can also use a mini muffin pan with mini liners, or even pour the mixture into an 8 x 8 inch baking dish (very lightly greased with coconut oil) and then simply cut into squares or use cookie cutters for shapes. However, my family (and I!) did prefer a slightly bigger gummy for this recipe to get the full tart/sweet cherry lime flavor! Okay, gummy time – let’s go!
Tart Cherry Lime Homemade Gummy “Candy” with Vital Proteins

Tart Cherry Lime Gummy "Candy" {Paleo}

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup 100% organic tart cherry juice
- 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice strained
- 2 tbsp raw honey
- 3 tbsp Vital Proteins Grass Fed Gelatin
Instructions
-
In a saucepan, heat the juices over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
-
Lower the heat to the lowest setting and whisk in the honey until fully dissolved.
-
Now, whisk in 1 tbsp at a time of the gelatin, adding another only after the others dissolve. Continue to stir until the gelatin is fully dissolved, about 10 mins.
-
Once you have no lumps, just liquid*, remove from heat and carefully transfer the liquid into your gummy molds (sometimes a dropper is provided with the molds, which is helpful.) If you don't have molds, you can use a mini muffin pan lined with mini liners, or a very lightly greased 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
-
Refrigerate until firm (1-2 hours depending on the size of your gummies) then pop out and enjoy! If you used a baking dish, you can cut into squares or use cookie cutters.
-
I stored mine in the refrigerator, but these will remain solid at room temp. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
*Don't worry if you have a couple of small stubborn lumps, if the gelatin is mostly dissolved, you're good to go!

Are you a fan of tart cherry juice? Do you believe in its benefits?
What is one recipe idea you’d like to see using Vital Proteins grass fed collagen?

I loved this recipe & am coming back to make a 3rd time. I’m not a runner, but in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy & vital Proteins gummy treats are helping me get the protein I need. The tart cherry is great for helping get a better night’s sleep. I wish I’d figured out about these earlier on in my pregnancy!
My daughter and I just made these tonight. Awesome, easy and seemingly healthy recipe. However, though they’re still yummy, we both feel as if we’ve ate a cough drop but the minty feeling in our chest. Has anyone else experienced this?
Mine didn’t turn out, the second time I made them. Still a liquid mixture. Help?
These are jello not gummies sorry.
Has anyone here tried doing this with tart cherry juice concentrate? If so, how much concentrate did you use, and did you mix with a certain juice or water?
Can you tell me how many of the gummy bears do I need to eat to equal a serving of the powder beef gelatin?
Great recipe! But, it’s way easier to hold back a few tbsp. of cherry juice to help dissolve the gelatin. Just sprinkle the gelatin over the reserved cherry juice and leave to “gel” then you can just add it all
The the boiling mixture at one time, and it melts right in!
Can I make this with collagen powder instead of Gelatin? Just trying to avoid buying something else but can do if necessary
Thanks
Hello Michele,
I am happy to find your site and recipe. I used to buy prepared product (Tart Cherry Ultra Gummies) for my son , Marcin, 3 years old, suffering PFAPA. It helps him to recover quickly, and stay in better form when PFAPA appears.
I wonder, if anyone has similiar experience and can share it.
Now I am going to check your recipe 🙂
Best wishes from Poland,
Lukas & Marcin
I made this with pom juice and the beef flavor (and smell) is overpowering. How do you get over that?
Mine did not firm up
Is there anything I can do
