Fall is absolutely my favorite season for baking and I’ve been meaning to try out an updated apple cobbler recipe!
I haven’t tried out a cobbler in awhile, but these blueberry and peach ones are so delicious and a fall themed cobbler sounded perfect.

What You Need to Make Paleo Apple Cobbler
This cobbler uses simple ingredients that you probably already have stocked if you’re familiar with grain free baking.
Here’s everything you’ll need to prepare this paleo apple cobbler:
Apple Filling:
- apples
- maple sugar or coconut sugar
- fresh lemon juice
- ground cinnamon
- allspice or cloves
- nutmeg
- arrowroot flour, or tapioca
- sea salt
Cobbler Topping:
- grass fed butter or ghee
- maple sugar, or coconut sugar
- unsweetened almond milk , or preferred dairy free milk
- pure vanilla extract
- blanched almond flour
- tapioca flour, or arrowroot
- aluminum free baking powder, or make your own paleo baking powder*
- sea salt
- ground cinnamon
How to Make Paleo Apple Cobbler
Preheat your oven to 350° F and lightly spray a 9 x 13” baking dish with avocado oil spray or lightly grease with coconut oil, butter or ghee.
In a large bowl, toss together all ingredients for the apple filling, and set aside while you prepare the topping.
For the cobbler topping, in a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter or ghee, sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
Add in both flours, baking powder, sea salt and cinnamon until combined.
Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, then spoon the cobbler batter over the top evenly and spread with a rubber spatula to mostly cover.
Bake in the center rack of the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and set, and the apples are tender and bubbly.
Once done, allow it to sit at room temperature for at least 20 minutes to set. Serve alone or with dairy-free ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
How to Make Corn Free (Paleo) Baking Powder
If you are following a paleo diet strictly and want to avoid corn, you can make your own corn free baking powder.
Simply mix 2 tsp cream of tartar with 1 tsp baking soda. Use just 1 1/2 tsp of this mixture for the cobbler.

- 8 cups apples 7-8 apples, peeled and sliced into 1/4” pieces (I used honey crisp)
- 1/4 cup maple sugar or coconut sugar
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice or cloves
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tablespoons arrowroot flour or tapioca
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
Cobbler Topping:
- 1/3 cup grass fed butter or ghee, melted
- 1/2 cup maple sugar or coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or preferred dairy free milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups blanched almond flour
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour or arrowroot
- 1 1/2 teaspoons aluminum free baking powder or make your own paleo baking powder*
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
