What’s better than a totally delicious Creamy Avocado Green Smoothie for a healthy breakfast or power snack? This smoothie has a thick creamy texture, is naturally sweetened and is paleo and dairy free with a vegan option.
Adding frozen avocado to smoothies has been the biggest smoothie “hack” for me to get the thick creamy texture that I need!
My everyday smoothie is a chocolate avocado one and today I have a green/vanilla flavored version to share.
You can buy your avocado chunks already frozen, or you can dice an avocado and freeze in a plastic bag. I’ve done both and both work well for smoothies.
Between the frozen avocado, frozen banana and paleo yogurt, the texture of this smoothie is perfection if you love a really thick, creamy smoothie!
Of course to thin it out, just add a little bit more almond milk until you get the texture you want.
What You Need to Make this Avocado Green Smoothie
Simple ingredients make the best smoothies! Here’s everything you’ll need for this one:
- diced frozen avocado
- frozen banana slices
- spinach or kale
- plant based yogurt (I used Culina)
- unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- plant based vanilla protein powder, optional
- maple syrup or raw honey
How to Make This Thick Creamy Avocado Green Smoothie
Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. I like to use my Vitamix for this one because it makes 2-3 smoothies.
You can always divide the recipe in half to make one large smoothie if you prefer, and won’t need a large blender for that amount.
For smaller or single serve smoothies, I use my Ninja blender.
How to Sweeten This Smoothie
The bananas and vanilla protein powder will sweeten the smoothie somewhat, but you’ll probably also want to add a small amount of sweetener depending on how sweet your protein powder is.
I like honey or maple syrup, and they also work well if you’re omitting the protein powder completely.
If you’re not using sweetened protein powder, use honey or maple syrup to taste until you get the right level of sweetness – about 1 tablespoon.
I hope you’re ready for a new go-to healthy green smoothie! Grab your ingredients and favorite blender and enjoy!

SC to hear pleas accusing Twitter of promoting fake news, anti-India content
Former national co-convener of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell Vinit Goenka, advocates Vinit Jindal, Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay and others had filed petitions in the apex court on the issue.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear pleas today seeking directions to the government to bring in legislation enabling the prosecution of Twitter for alleged “anti-India tweets”. One of the pleas has sought the framing of a mechanism that could check advertisements and paid content on Twitter that may be hateful or seditious and to rein in social media accounts “in order to stop the hatred, fake, investigative and other news which are contrary to the law of the country or violates the law of the country”.
