Rich and perfectly creamy Chocolate Fudge Sauce that’s Paleo, vegan, refined sugar free and so simple to make! Just four wholesome ingredients is all it takes to make this rich, super chocolatey fudge sauce that’s perfect for ice cream, pancakes, or anything else that needs some extra chocolate!
I came across this insanely easy, rich, creamy chocolate fudge sauce by accident – while in “recipe panic mode” for a completely different recipe.
What’s recipe panic mode? Well, for me, it’s that moment when I realize a recipe might not be going so well – and “needs” something else to make it work.
The short story is, I eventually got the other recipe to work for me, not because of this chocolate fudge sauce (although it did help) but because I made it a second time and completely changed it.
It will be coming to the blog soon enough, but first! The chocolate fudge sauce that made my initial recipe fail day a little bit happier. At least something amazing came out of my panic and lost hours.
Anyway, when I’m in recipe panic mode, my mind starts racing. It’s like my brain takes all the information it’s accumulated about what tastes good and what I have to work with and makes an attempt at something great.
Occasionally, it works out. So many other times it does not, but let’s just focus on the happy times – and the chocolate fudge sauce!
So, what I wound up doing could not have been more simple. I grabbed a can of full fat coconut milk from the fridge (storing it in the refrigerator makes the cream separate from the water, which is essential for most of my recipes!)
I also grabbed raw cacao, which I had in front of me already from the failed recipe, and maple syrup. I melted everything together into a chocolate sauce, then added a bit of coconut oil for the “fudge” factor. Nothing against chocolate syrup, but clearly you guys recognize that I’m a fudge girl by now, I think 🙂
This chocolate fudge sauce is like a thick syrup when warmed, and when chilled it gets more firm and creamy. Due to the coconut oil and cream, it will be nice and creamy and fudgey when you pour it over something cold – like almond butter fudge chunk ice cream! Okay, enough talk – let’s make this!
Chocolate Fudge Sauce {Paleo & Vegan}
Simple Chocolate Fudge Sauce {Paleo & Vegan}

Ingredients
- 1/2 cupcoconut cream or the thick part canned full fat coconut milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 2 tsp organic coconut oil
Instructions
-
In a small saucepan over very low heat, melt together and stir the coconut cream, cacao (or cocoa powder) and maple syrup until fully melted, combined, smooth, and creamy. This should take no more than 2 minutes.
-
Once smooth and shiny, turn the heat off and stir in the coconut oil. Continue to stir until the mixture is shiny and smooth.
-
Allow to cool a bit, then serve drizzled over your favorite dessert!
-
Store covered in a glass container in the refrigerator. The sauce will turn solid when chilled - you can either microwave or run the jar under hot water to make the fudge sauce liquid again. Enjoy!*
Recipe Notes
*This recipe makes about 1/2 cup of chocolate fudge sauce, but the ingredients can easily be doubled to make a large portion, or divided in half for a smaller portion.

Michele,
This Recipe came out perfect! Made this for my husband, who loves his hot fudge sauce. I am trying to get him to eat clean. Which is not easy!🙄 He get it a 5 star ⭐️ thank you 😊
I’ve been feeling sorry for myself for all the things I can’t eat, but I’m so glad I came across this recipe! It’s fudgy, delicious, creamy—I was worried about the coconut cream because I usually dislike it in recipes but it’s perfect in this one. I’m going to have some of this sauce on some strawberry fronen ice cream. Thank you for lifting me out of my funk!
It was amazing. Had it with vegan paleo brownies. I will definitely incorporate this into daily life and make it often. SO GOOD. THANK YOU.
I haven’t made this yet because I too am IBS-D. I have been told to avoid coconut oil and milk and the actual coconut because I they are a known irritant. So, I haven’t actually tried anything with coconut at all. I have such precarious reactions to foods that I have been really careful to what I do eat. I had a gastric bleed last year so I’ve been so very careful what I do eat. So, IS Coconut a known irritant or not. On the FODMOP, it is listed as a food to avoid. What do you guys that have IBS say? I don’t know anyone else that has IBS-D, so have no one else to ask. Help me out here. I REALLY like this recipe, it’s just what I’ve been looking for to supplement my chocolate cravings!
I can drizzle this sauce on to SMBC? Will it set? How to make it thicker?
Just sweet enough, silky
